Polanski Brothers: Home Of Eternal Rest - Part 4 by Dakota Cassidy

In the conclusion, Spencer Polanski and Larkin McBride are this close (see fingers pressed almost together) to catching a diabolical killer.

The couple's determined to nab who killed the hunky detective's best friend, and in the process, find a way to make their unusual relationship work.

But an evil plot, and more murder and mayhem, are just as determined to keep them apart...

***

What a great ending! :D Everything was explained, the bad guy lost, the good guys won, and Larkin and Spencer got a happy ending. Another smash by the amazing Dakota Cassidy. Every story of hers I read makes me love her more and more - is that even possible? Not much I can say that won't spoil the book for you guys so let us move on to...

Uncensored Comments Straight From Kindle:

  • How do you know she's human, Larkin? Huh huh?
  • Not now, Larkin! What a horndog.
  • Oh shit oh shit, Ethan, what have you gotten yourself into?
  • OH MY GOD WHAT KIND OF A COP ARE YOU!? You seriously left the burger joint where you could have spied on Joffrey and Ethan to have SEX!? C'Mon, guys!!! This is pissing me off! It's like that one Harlequin I read all those years ago...not getting into THAT one.
  • OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT, DID HE KIDNAP HIM!?
  • No, don't go. It's a trap - a trap, I tell ya!
  • *Ahem* Excuse me, Larkin. What the hell do you mean by she was a girl vampire? Hey, Tarzan, keep those thoughts in check, will ya!?
  • ...really? You find her door wide open and her chair knocked over and alarm bells don't go off? I'm personally taking that badge from you, detective!
  • Yesss - get daddy! Daddy'll whoop some ass!
  • Daddy is gearing up for an ass whoopin', oh yes he is!

What a ride! What a great story. A great ending. Very bittersweet - so sad there won't be anymore Spencer and Larkin.

Fangs Of Anarchy 2 - Outlaw Alpha: Undone (Part 2) by Dakota Cassidy

What's worse than being a paranormal whose every liberty has been stripped away by the human government? For Freya Ashe, maybe it's being a smart, independent werewolf forced to blindly follow sexist pack rules.

Or perhaps being chosen to mate with a wolf who makes her want to slip into something more comfortable...like a coma. Or kinda-sorta falling for Liam McConnell, a vampire who's off limits, no matter how much she lusts after his big, buff bod.

Or maybe it's the blackouts, the drugs, the life-altering species change against her will and, oh yeah, the huge mob outside her door with murder on their minds.

Yep, Freya's quiet life is unraveling at warp speed. Good thing she has a sexy vampire scoundrel to hold on to, huh?

***

*whistles* the shit just hit the fan, folks! I'm talking about murder and Freya's the number one suspect!

Let's rewind a little bit, shall we? Dum dum DUM - Liam did INDEED, turn Freya into a vampire. Let's just get this out of the way right now, Fangs 2 is nothing like Fangs 1, peeps. These two characters (Liam and Freya) are just steeping in it left and right. I think they should just be locked away for both their sakes because they can't go two steps without fucking something up and making their situation a lot worse than it already was.

The meat and bones of this installment lay within the first and last few pages. The rest is Freya getting accustomed to her new vampire self and some vampire on vampire sex. And there is nothing wrong with vamp on vamp sex, people, I'm just making an observation.

Thumbs up for this book. I am anxious to read the next part.

Uncensored Comments Straight From Kindle:
  •  :-O Whaaaa!? Sex crazed haze, indeed! WTF, Liam!? Again, this is why Irish is the leader and NOT Liam!
  • Wait, back it up - drugged? What do you mean drugged?
  • Seriously? Who made up this rule, a MALE vamp I'm sure!
  • "Why the fuck do I smell vampire and Ben Gay, Freya?" - LMAO!
  • It's not about her, it's about Claire. Someone was trying to get Claire to kill her BFF so then she'd have to pay with her life.
  • Yeah, I knew it was all staged - I know guys, you can't fool me!!! I've known all along. Hmph.
  • Freya wants to twerk! Thank goodness I wasn't drinking anything when I read this or it would have promptly squirted out of my nose.

Cover Reveal: Unexpecting by Cynthia St. Aubin

Title: Unexpecting
Author: Cynthia St. Aubin
Series:  Book 7 - The Case Files of Dr. Matilda Schmidt Paranormal Psychologist
Genre: Paranormal Romantic Comedy
Release Date: December 19th, 2014

When who's your daddy is a multiple choice question...

Paranormal Psychologist Matilda Schmidt is one client away from fa-la-la-la-losing it. Holiday cheer is in the air, gun-toting fruitcakes are in her office, and she's spinning through mood swings fast enough to make her toss her cookies--even without the morning sickness.

When Ol' Kris Kringle goes AWOL after a nervous breakdown, his disgruntled elf is convinced that only Matilda can get him back on his sleigh in time to keep humans from tearing each other apart quicker than couponeers at a Black Friday sale.

But their efforts hit the skids when the men in Matilda's life show up and demand to know which of them is responsible for the bun in her oven: the hot hit man who's likely to stuff her stocking with ammunition, or the delicious demigod who's made Santa's naughty list a couple centuries running.

I like gravy.

This has nothing to do with the rest of my bio, but I thought you ought to know.

About the writing thing...
I wrote my first play when I was six and made my brothers perform it for my parents. I charged gum wrappers for admission (a steal, in my opinion, considering I had handed out the gum wrappers ahead of time). While I seriously doubt you'll be seeing any of my formative work on Broadway anytime soon, I can credit these early experiments with the first of many important lessons I learned about writing: no matter how brilliant your manuscript is, some kid can go streaking butt-ass nekkid across the living room, and totally undermine your vision.

Everyone watches the naked kid because running across the living room with your cheeks flapping in the breeze is friggin' hilarious.

Cue the lightbulb moment. People like funny stuff!

I never quite gave up on the writing thing, even as I tried my hand at being a dusty academic turned Executive Assistant (they paid me to nag! How cool is that?), but in those quiet moments when expense reports had been filed and to-do items checked off, the funny people in my head kept talking to me.

Yes, I know they have medication for that. It's called vodka.
Since they discourage drinking at work, I started writing instead. What came out was an amalgamation (vocabulary!) of all the things I love: funny stuff, art, psychology, food, people, and paranormal critters!
Et voila! The Case Files of Dr. Matilda Schmidt, Paranormal Psychologist were born.

When I'm not sitting in my office watching cat videos and pretending to write, I like cooking, knitting (badly), and reading anything that makes me laugh (like my bank statements).
I live in Colorado with my brilliant husband and three surly cats.

Catch up on the rest of the series!

Polanski Brothers: Home Of The Eternal Rest - Part 3 by Dakota Cassidy

In part three, as Spencer and Larkin dig deeper into their investigation of the detective’s best friends murder and the suspicious circumstances surrounding yet another death in her sleepy town, they also investigate each other.
A. Lot. Woo hoo!

While neither can deny their intense physical attraction, they also can’t deny a very big problem.

Someone’s killing people—someone with fangs, and it’s Larkin’s duty to find out who’s doing the killing.

But how does a guy who’s falling for a sexy vampire do the right thing when it could mean risking her entire clan’s discovery in the process?

Because if the hot detective isn’t careful, he could find the woman he wants more than any other before, staked at dawn...

***

So far part three is the steamiest of the bunch. Lots of sizzling moments in this book. But my favorite part was Spencer's thoughts on Joffrey and Larkin's reaction to hearing her thoughts. That's actually been my favorite part on all the books. I'm a huge fan of Dakota's snark and this character has plenty of it.

Spencer's brother, Ethan comes back in this book and drops a bomb on us, which I really enjoyed. We still don't know who the killer vamp is and they have no suspects. Of course, we all suspect Joffrey, but neither Spencer nor Larkin have looked at him twice.

It looks as though we may find out why Larkin was suspended in the next installment. Honestly, I hadn't given it much thought. Maybe I'm just used to watching and reading things where the cop gets suspended but it seems to be some sort of big deal so we shall see what happens.

Uncensored Comments Straight From Kindle

  • Somebody get a fire extinguisher, cuz I'm on fiyah!
  • Why do you need to be gentle? She’s a vampire, you won’t hurt her.

Overall good book. Eagerly awaiting the next part.

Synopsis

Behind every good man…is the love of an even better woman. Those were just pretty words before I met Claire Montgomery. Before my fairy queen burst into my life, I didn’t recognize the bastard in my morning mirror—but her love has given me the strength to face the imposter, even embrace him. My tower in the clouds is no longer a sentence of isolation; it’s a jumping point to the stars. With Claire at my side, I’m the king I always wanted to be, the Killian Stone I always dreamed of becoming. Which means for once, I want the mask guarding my secret to stay right where it is. If you want the grown-up fairy tale…learn to love the dark side. Profound sentiment. Wish I could get on board with it but the prince in pinstripes has other ideas. Life has been a dream since Killian burst into the ball offering the perfect fit—his heart and mine, not the shoes, the car or the jewelry—but the treasures have become his armor, hiding the man I yearn to know. I refuse to open his little velvet box until he opens himself, letting me see even the dark hallways of his soul… Until he lifts all his masks for me. Master of the masquerade… Fate has always bowed to my bidding. I should have known it was just picking its time to exact the best revenge, to reveal the secrets that will destroy everything. Without my disguise, am I still the man Claire fell in love with…or another penniless prince vying for an unattainable dream? Mistress of his ruin? He always told me to be careful what I wish for. By demanding his truth, have I not only demolished the dream we had…but the man I’ve loved more than any other?

Excerpt

“No more running in ice soup, Mr. Stone.” My admonishment was gentle but stern. “You’re going to catch pneumonia.”
Psshhh.
“Killian!”
“I grew up in the ‘ice soup’, baby. I’m not going to catch—”
“I can’t live without you.” I didn’t try to hide the hoarse crack in my voice. “Okay? Happy now?”
For a long moment, all he did was continue to stare. After that pause, he raised a hand to the space directly over my heart—and pressed it there. “You always make me happy.”
Slowly, he drew that hand down the center of my torso. Though the action brought a thousand shivers, his face still captivated me the most. I couldn’t stop picturing what he must have been like at five years old, so young and innocent, brought into the middle of a complicated mess by adults wrapped up in their warped and convoluted sense of “doing right”.
The heart he’d just warmed with his fingers now swelled from the power of his honesty. Then it swelled and ached, bursting with the love I felt for his beautiful, brave soul. If he asked me again to marry him, I’d shout my acceptance at the top of my lungs. As odd as it was, the pain of the last week had finally brought me the Killian I’d been searching for.
Unable to hold back anymore, I leaned over and kissed him. The pillows billowed around us with the force of my passion—and his in return. His powerful body, especially the part pressing most intimately against me, swelled and grew. He circled both arms around my waist and clutched me tighter, inviting my mouth to stay right where it was as he opened his lips for me.
Warmth. Invitation. Safety, Solace. Home. He was my home.
I lost myself in that kiss. Drowned in the luxury of his taste, the perfect feel of his tongue. Moaned as his tongue stroked mine with increasing urgency, growing desire.
There was so much more to our connection than the physical need of man and woman—and never more than in that moment. The force of his need filled me, pushed me, consumed me.
When we tore back by a few inches, Killian dug a hand to my scalp. “My queen. My Claire. You’re my anchor in this ocean. My compass in this storm.”
Peering into his eyes was looking to the depths of that uncharted sea. Fathoms of darkness lived there…gray and black and pewter, liquid and shadows as mysterious as the bottom of the Pacific or Atlantic themselves. When I gazed at him like this, the origins of the world’s labels for him were so easy to understand. Cryptic. Enigmatic. Secluded. Guarded. He was unbeknownst to so many, only allowing the most worthy into his sanctum—and now, all the reasons for that made such sense.
Right now, he’d made me the most worthy person on the planet. The way he held me in his embrace, touched my skin, kissed my lips…I’d never felt closer to him. I yearned to press him for more. Dammit, why did I always want more? I needed to thank the universe for what it had already given me this week. For now, this connection was enough. More than enough.
It was perfect.
“Killian,” I whispered. “When we’re together like this, when it feels like we are the only two people on the planet, I feel like I can take on the world.” I emitted a little girl growl as he reacted to that by slowly wrapping my hair around his fingers. “I know it sounds corny…”
“It sounds wonderful.” He rasped it, seating my hips more firmly against his, letting his engorged cock slide softly between the moist lips of my sex. “Don’t stop,” he encouraged.
Denying him wasn’t an option. “We can do anything we set our minds to,” I told him, “as long as we’re together. We’re a force, Killian—you and I. I’m not sure the world’s prepared for it yet. They have no idea what they’re messing with.”
He growled again, harder and louder. “Hmmm. My fairy has tiger claws, too. Always ready to fight for what’s right.”
“Damn straight, especially when it comes to the man I’m madly in love with.” I bent and kissed him again.
“And what about the Killian Stone you’re not so fond of?” He wasn’t playing at the question this time. “Answer me. I’ve seen the look on your face when that bastard comes out to play.”
“You’re right. He is a bastard. But I love you, Killian. All of you.” I seized the chance to splay my hand to the center of his chest now—to the heart inside that beat so strong and sure. “You’re just one man. And when you are this open and real with me, I love you more than my own life. I want our lives to be one. As sure as I breathe, that’s what I want.”
We kissed again, but I let my lips linger on his for a very long time, simply tasting him, savoring him. I fitted my body deeper to his, eliciting a deep groan from him, matched by my own aroused sigh. It was no longer time for talk. Nonverbal communication could speak our remaining words—a skill my man knew just as well as fancy boardroom speeches. Thank God.
